My little reader

Look at my “not so” baby.  I’ve been terrible updating with photos of the kids but here are a few of the youngest.

She really loves this book – Baby Angels by Jane Cowen-Fletcher

She walks around the house with it.

I made this summer top for her because Alyssa told me it would look nice on her.

At the Park.  She had such a blast.  She went up there and came down all by herself.

What am I going to do with her?

She loves the computer and since she is not allowed near mine she went for the next best thing, the kids’ computer.  It wasn’t even on.  Look at her pressing the keyboard and looking at the screen just waiting!!

I had to drop the camera when she stood up and started dancing.  Now that’s a whole other story.  I’d be really concerned if she started stripping while dancing on the desk :-)  Wonder where she would have learned that one from

The thoughtful son

Can I tell you about Christopher?

Every week if he stays on green/purple (their behavior is color coded) he gets to go to the treasure chest.  He’s missed this only twice since he’s been in Kindergarten.  Once for forgetting his bag of books and the other for scribbling on his school work)  I think that’s pretty good = yellow card and no treasure chest.

Week before last, on Friday when I picked him up,  he tells me, “Mama I got something for the girls!”  He was super excited.

I said, “Oh?” I mean what could he get for his sisters from school?

“Yes” he said.  He couldn’t wait to take it out his back pack.

Instead of getting something from the treasure chest for himself he chose this:

He’s such a sweetheart.  That’s MY boy.

They’re always asking for donations for the treasure chest too.  So instead of buying something, I am going to make small clippies for the girls and buy some wooden vehicles and paint them for the boys.  The clippies will be on my store card.  Can we say advertising :-)  Am I wrong for that?

…on marriage - Arguments

This isn’t going to be as in depth as I would like it to be because I am so swamped with stuff to do, but….

People, if it can be avoided please do.  Forget about the whole “making up is so much fun” business because people say stupid things when they’re angry and lots of feelings end up getting hurt.  No one, at least not me, wants to be in the same house with their loved one, angry and not talking.  That makes for a very awkward situation.   So if you haven’t already mastered the art of “tongue holding”, this will be something for you to work on.

Sometimes you just have to let things go.  Yes, more easier said than done.  It’s also a good idea to maybe excuse yourself from the situation until you’ve given yourself enough time to either think about it or calm down, then have a discussion not an argument; and when you’re having the discussion please don’t have it in your head that you’re going to convince the other person that you’re right and they’re wrong.  You’ll end up at zero.  Get your point out, listen to and acknowledge what the other one has to say or is feeling.  Even after this, realize that you both still may not agree but at least you see where the other is coming from without screaming at each other.

I’ve known my husband for over 10 years.  We’ll be celebrating our 7th anniversary at the end of this month.  People who knew me before I was married would never believe it if I tell them my husband and I don’t argue.   Back in the day,  I was the one so quick to go off at the mouth and try to force whoever I was with into seeing things MY way.  Me Me Me….goodness I used to be so selfish.  Lucky for the husband I got that out my system :-)  Besides arguing is so emotionally draining.  Who has the energy anyway?  Certainly not me.

When Bargains are a Bust!!

Have you ever gotten a really awesome bargain only to end up regretting it and thinking you would have been better off paying full price?

It’s happened to me a countless number of times but I’m not discouraged.

panties copy

Today’s Bargain/Bust item is a pair of panties.  Yes I know, it was bad.

Yesterday I took the kids to the fabric store and if it wasn’t bad enough that they got rowdy and misbehaved, I had to deal with some “uncomfortable” issues.

Many of my undies are purchased off the sale rack which is cool.  I’m not modeling for anyone but the husband and he’s not picky not does he complain, so it’s not like I’m putting on a show.  The majority of them are perfect but ladies BEWARE of the super low marked-down ones that say “irregular fit” or “slightly irregular”.  Some of you probably only saw that label on Jeans huh? Hahahaha…….

This particular one was one of the above and I made sure to look at it from all angles when it was purchased to see the actual flaw but none was seen so I grabbed it up and was good to go.  WRONG…..

That underwear rode me like a horse.  It shifted and slipped…oh gosh it was awful.  I’m sure that didn’t the rowdy-kid issue.

I was so glad when I got back to the truck so I could “fix” it.  And when I came home, it found a new home in the trash.

Aprons, Checkbook cover mini- wallets and store banners too

I love productive weeks!  I had another one.

After going through what seems like months of a funk, not sewing anything, not making any jewelry, I am so glad me engines restarted.  The past week has been good as far as me being productive.

Every spare moment I got, I either cut or sewed something.  I love it.  I have 3 more full aprons that are already cut, just waiting for me to sew

I have also been doing a whole lot of make-overs, this blog included!  I’ve made 2 banners for my stores.  Much happier than the old one and so…me!  All that’s left to do is start making a bunch of children’s items to re-stock.

Reversible Half Apron in Midnight Kisses and Scrolls OSFM BlackScrollsScrollsSideShot

If you’ve seen my aprons then you know I mainly stick with the darker colors for the ruffles.  I took a different route this time and lightened it up.  It was initially a test apron but I really like it now.
